ESTES PARK - (information compiled by Donnell-Kay, October 2006)

This small mountain district of 1260 students is in desperate need of some capital improvements that directly impact the safety and well-being of its students. As Estes Park is a tourist and retirement destination and has the unique designation of being the most "elderly" community in Colorado, it receives very little state funding and support by way of tax overrides is not always an option. These factors have rendered much needed facilities upgrades practically impossible.

Some of the many safety needs for the forty-four year old middle school include roof repairs, science lab repairs to include emergencey shut-off systems for gas and electric re-wiring, as well as bulding-wide HVAC upgrades to improve air quality. Additionally, the district is in dire need of upgraded public announcement and fire alarm systems in both the middle and high schools.
