Major Problems:

Building Conditions: leaks in roof; broken and blurred windows; peeling and holes in interior walls; water damaged ceiling tiles; plumbing piles deteriorating;
inefficient lighting; unsafe fire and safety systems.

Site Conditions: unpaved parking lots; cracks in sidewalks creating structural problems; cracks in play courts; bare (no grass) landscape; basketball hoops/poles in poor condition; poor drainage in parking lot; minimal lighting on grounds.

Educational Suitability: inadequate bus lane and parent drop-off; no sidewalks around building; dirt parking lot; surfaces on playground consist of gravel and dirt; fence needs to be replaced; minimal directional signage; limited storage space; no remedial learning spaces; insufficient size of library; no performing arts center/auditorium; no preschool; gymnasium serves as lunchroom and the food is prepared at the nearby high school; shared counseling services with other schools; the administrative office is extremely small.

Technology Readiness: inadequate electrical services to classrooms; no HVAC service in the building; no local network; no cable TV in the community.

Major Problems:

Building Conditions: broken and discolored windows; stained and torn carpets; weathered interior doors; exposed and torn insulation (ceilings); outdated and rusty plumbing fixtures; unsafe fire and safety system.

Site Conditions: cracking in parking lot pavement; driveway is patches of asphalt, mainly consisting of dirt and weeds; sidewalks are in poor condition – need to be replaced; basketball court is on the parking lot; the existing parking lots are in poor condition; weedy yard; landscape is not irrigated; minimal lighting on grounds; minimal fencing - the only fence is 4 ft. high along the highway.

Educational Suitability: highway is located adjacent to the school; busses mix with pedestrian traffic and vehicles; playfields are located across the highway from the school – impractical; parking is not well marked and poorly maintained; no bus and traffic separation; outdoor basketball court is not properly equipped; poor external signage – little school identification and no directions for visitors; internal signage, classrooms are poorly identified with any kind of signage; the building is very old, so it is poorly designed for today’s needs; limited storage in classrooms; the only remedial learning space is removed from the main instructional area of the building - located on the lower level and not easily accessible; library does not have extra room for a class of students to read or do research; there is no office/workroom/storage in the library; no music room – students are bussed to the elementary school for music instruction; no art program; vocational technical space is located in the lower level – not accessible to the handicapped; the only science lab is inadequate; no food service – students are bussed to the high school for their lunch and then back to the middle school for noon recess; no designated counseling space; school is staffed with one nurse, serving the entire district; reception area has limited work space and does not offer any seating area for guests.

Building Conditions: foundation and structure damage; water damage to exterior walls; needs roof replacement; inefficient windows; significant wear on carpet; water damaged ceiling tiles; electrical server is at capacity; outdated plumbing supply and fixtures; inadequate ventilation system; poor lighting in some areas; unsatisfactory fires and safety system.

Site Conditions: cracking in parking lot; no curbs or gutters; minimal sidewalks; surface on athletic courts need repairs; minimal landscaping; needs updated irrigation system around the building; no acid receptor tank for the science rooms; older fencing needs repairs.

Educational Suitability: athletic courts need to be upgraded to meet standards; limited directional signage; classrooms are oddly shaped and have limited access to day light; library is adequate in size, but seems small due to lack of daylight; physical education lockers are in poor condition; musical instrument storage is limited; kiln in art classroom is not properly vented; performance areas are located on a different level and no easily accessible; auditorium seating, stage curtains, sound system and theatrical lighting need to be replaced; chemistry classroom is not of adequate size; restrooms are not well ventilated and the fixtures are old (below standards); counseling space is not suitable for private conversations or meetings.

Technology Readiness: the required electrical power does not exist; poor ventilation throughout building, including the newest computer lab; telephone system does not connect to all classrooms.
